Invite you to a

Genomics Webinar

The Sequencing Power of NextSeq 2000 and Patterned Flow Cells

Please plan to join us and learn about the sequencing options available on our newly acquired instrument, the NextSeq 2000. Matt Angel, sequencing specialist at Illumina, Inc will be discussing both single cell and whole genome applications as well as new kit offerings from Illumina:

  • Overview and cost benefit of NextSeq 2000 sequencing
  • New RNA-Seq suite of library preps
  • RVOP2 & Respiratory Pathogen Panel
  • New DNA PCR-Free Tagmentation kit
  • Using NextSeq 2000 sequencing for scRNAseq and ATAseq

Date: Wednesday, Februry 10        Time: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Registration is required. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a GGBC contest to win Free Sequencing! Details given after the seminar.

GGBC REOPENING PLAN… click here

Following UGA guidelines for Phase 1 of reopening, the GGBC will resume its operation next Monday 6/15. As you can imagine, there are over 60 projects in our system that we will resume working on them first. Please expect some delay as we work our way through these projects.

Our new rules are as following:

  1. No in-person communications with any of the GGBC team members. Calls, emails, and zoom meetings only.
  2. ONLY GGBC members are allowed in the labs and offices. This means:
  1. No scheduled usage of GGBC instruments. Customers who use some of GGBC instruments must submit orders and let the GGBC team do the work for them.
  2. Samples MUST be placed in the refrigerator located by the door of RM# 156 in the Riverbend North building.
  1. This is the ONLY drop off location.
  2. Masks must be worn when delivering samples.
  3. Gloves and 70% Alcohol are located by the refrigerator for them to use.
  4. After placing the samples, No NEED for any interactions with the team.
  5. Customers who are shipping samples to GGBC via mail couriers, must Not require signatures. We will email you when we receive the samples.

Thank you for your cooperation,

The GGBC team.

PacBio Sequel-II sequencer

Dear GGBC Users & Friends,

We are pleased to inform you that GGBC now has an operational PacBio Sequel-II sequencer!

Sequel System: high-throughput, cost-effective access to SMRT Sequencing

The Sequel System is based on Single Molecule, Real-Time (SMRT)
technology and is ideal for rapidly and cost-effectively generating high-quality PacBio whole genome de novo assemblies and full-length transcriptomes.
At GGBC, we provide all Sequel based services, from library prep and sequencing to data analysis.

With a much lower cost per base, the Sequel II system offers the following:

  • Generates ~8-times more data than the original Sequel System  (80Gbp +/- 20%)
  • Provides access to even more highly accurate long reads (HiFi Reads)
  • Reduces project time for faster results
  • Makes sequencing more affordable
  • Supports the range of SMRT Sequencing applications

Dear GGBC Users, We are pleased to launch the GGBC “Quick Quote” tool. This tool will allow you to generate a quick cost estimate of any work you plan to do at GGBC. The cost estimate can also be used to budget for any proposed work at GGBC in your grant proposals. If you need an official quote you will need to contact the GGBC business office. Best Regards, The GGBC Team.

Dear GGBC Users,

We are pleased to launch the GGBC “Quick Quote” tool.  This tool will allow you to generate a quick cost estimate of any work you plan to do at GGBC. The cost estimate can also be used to budget for any proposed work at GGBC in your grant proposals.  If you need an official quote you will need to contact the GGBC business office.  A step-by-step illustration of how-to use the quick quote tool is posted on our website (here).  On the GGBC home page, there is a “Quick Quote” button that takes you to the tool.   The tool is hosted on GGBC FBS portal (here).

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance.

All UGA account holders must now submit a valid SpeedType or ChartString when placing an order.  The ChartFields within the ChartString must be delimited with periods. The ChartString must include the following Five ChartFields in order:

FundCode.Department.ProgramCode.ClassCode.BudgetRef

Optionally, the following three ChartFields (Project.Unit.Activity) as exemplified here, can also be added to the ChartString:
