All UGA account holders must now submit a valid SpeedType or ChartString when placing an order.  The ChartFields within the ChartString must be delimited with periods. The ChartString must include the following Five ChartFields in order:

FundCode.Department.ProgramCode.ClassCode.BudgetRef

Optionally, the following three ChartFields (Project.Unit.Activity) as exemplified here, can also be added to the ChartString:

FundCode.Department.ProgramCode.ClassCode.BudgetRef.Project.Unit.Activity

“PayAlias” on the GGBC Ordering Portal. Click here for more information.

Due to the University of Georgia updating to the PeopleSoft management system, all UGA account holders must now submit a valid SpeedType or ChartString when placing a GGBC order. PayAliases provide an easy way to specify the SpeedType/ChartString to pay for your requested services at GGBC.

Please remember to update any PayAliases you may already be using with the new SpeedType/ChartString. Feel free to go to your Lab page in the GGBC portal and set PayAliases up for your researchers to use. Please call (706) 542-6409 with any questions about this feature.

GGBC and PacBio Workshop, Friday March 23, 2018 : SMRT Sequencing for Smart Genomics

GGBC and PacBio Workshop: SMRT Sequencing for Smart Genomics

Date: March 23rd, 2018

Location: UGA Miller Plant Sciences Building, Room 2401

Speakers: Dr. Magdy Alabady, Dr. Andy Larrea, Dr. Casey Bergman, Dr. Steve Turner

Sponsored by the Georgia Genomics and Bioinformatics Core and Lexogen

The Georgia Genomics and Bioinformatics Core and PacBio are excited to announce an afternoon workshop on Friday, March 23 from 1pm-5pm.
Please mark the date and plan on joining us to learn how PacBio sequencing can be leveraged to benefit your research program.

PacBio representatives and UGA faculty will present short, ca. 20 min. talks on handling datasets generated for genome and transcriptome assembly, base modification and structural variation analyses. We would also like to include a few Lightning Talks to stimulate discussion: anyone at UGA working with PacBio data who is willing to give a short 3-5 min. talk about their work please contact Walt Lorenz (wlorenz@uga.edu) for more information.

We will wrap up with an informal round table discussion where technical and bioinformatics questions will be answered by our panel as we enjoy a selection of “refreshments.”

All registered attendees will have a chance to win free PacBio sequencing at the GGBC.

The attached flyer gives the general outline of speakers.  A second flyer with a registration link and further details regarding the sequencing giveaway will be forthcoming soon.
